The house we sold in Heber before we came to Herriman, I thought I did such a good job staging. I had one realtor tell my 'your house shows so well!' I thought I was a rockstar.
I cleaned out closets. Boxed up winter gear and small appliances. That's good enough, right?
I have since learned sooo much more in the staging department.
This is our current closet. It is right off the master bath. There is no door of separation so I really wanted to focus on cleaning this up. As they say - kitchens, bathrooms and closets/storage sell a house. Luckily, a few weeks before this staging endeavor, we donated a massive load to Deseret Industries.
And that was still not enough to make this closet look presentable!
1st thing: Clearing those IKEA storage boxes. They hold our extra sheets, swim suits, winter beanies - and honestly we have a couple that are empty.... That change alone, made the closet feel bigger and brighter! Hangers and dresses got packed up.
(did you notice, I put away the bulky shower towels?)
STEP 2: Really clear it out. If you stage and price your house right, you'll only need clothes for a 30 day close.

I wasn't kidding. Pack it all away. You'll only need 2 'nice' outfits (ie, business meetings, church). Pick your top 3 shirts, 2 pants, 2 skirts and pack up the rest. (I know you only wear the same 5 shirts every week anyway... )
Your whole house should be 3/4 of the way packed,
before you ever even take pictures.
Bright colors

Folded like a department store
White hangers
Carefully picked trendy tote
Vacuum marks
Wipe off shelves
Clean, minimalist
(I'd bet you tacos, we wouldn't even need to caulk and paint those shelves - a buyer would look over it to see a model home closet like this.)
